Barcelona are preparing for their upcoming LaLiga tie against Valencia at the Estadi Johan Cruyff on Sunday, September 14. Hansi Flick's team have picked up two wins and a draw from their first three games in the league this season.

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich were once very close to securing the signature of Lamine Yamal. Elsewhere, Liverpool have set their sights on a La Masia star.

On that note, let's look at the major Barcelona transfer stories from September 11, 2025.

Lamine Yamal almost joined Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich were close to securing the services of Lamine Yamal in 2022, according to BILD. The Spanish forward had caught the eye with Barcelona's youth side at that time, but was yet to break in the senior team.

The Bavarians had a chat with his agent and wanted to sign him as soon as he turned 16 in 2023. The Bungesliga champions planned to convince his family to move to Germany as well.

However, things changed when Jorge Mendes entered the scene and informed Bayern Munich that they could get a deal done for €5m. The Bavarians were unsure about investing such a huge sum for an unproven talent and their delay cost them the deal.

Meanwhile, Barcelona handed Lamine his first team debut at the age of 15. The player was pleased with the club's trust in him and subsequently committed to a new deal until 2026, with a €1bn release clause.

Yamal turned 18 years old over the summer and has since signed a contract extension until 2031. For Bayern Munich, it is a matter of what could have been.

Liverpool want Dro Fernandez

Liverpool have set their sights on Dro Fernandez, according to Fichajes. The highly rated Barcelona teenager apparently has admirers at Manchester United as well.

Fernandez rose through the ranks at La Masia and is capable of operating as an attacking midfielder or a left-winger. The Thinking Me recently reported that Chelsea and Manchester City also have their eyes on the youngster.

There's tremendous competition for places under Hansi Flick, so the 17-year-old could be tempted to move in search of greener pastures. The report adds that the player will make a decision on his future soon.

The Catalans, though, would hate to lose a player of his calibre. Fernandez, meanwhile, also has a big decision on his hands, as he may not be guaranteed regular football in the Premier League either.

Kees Smit opens up on Barcelona interest

Kees Smit is honoured to be linked to Barcelona. The Dutch midfielder has caught the eye with AZ Alkmaar and was in the thick of things as his nation won the Under-19 European championship.

Speaking recently, as cited by Mundo Deportivo, Smit said that he is proud to be on the radars of the Catalans as well as Real Madrid.

“I played reasonably well, I think. I did well, I scored a lot of goals. That definitely helped attract attention. I did see my name popping up a lot on social media back then. I was supposed to be in the sights of Real Madrid and Barcelona. That made me proud,” said Smit.

Los Blancos remain on the hunt for midfield reinforcements in 2026 and Smit could be an option for the job.
