Manchester United were held to 1-1 draw by Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, August 24, in the Premier League. The Red Devils arrived at the game on the back of their 1-0 defeat against Arsenal last weekend.

Despite dropping points against the Gunners, Ruben Amorim's team received praise for a much-improved performance. The Portuguese head coach made just one change to the team for this weekend's game, with Amad Diallo taking Diogo Dalot's place on the right wing-back position.

Manchester United started the game very well and came close to scoring multiple times in the opening minutes. The away side were awarded a penalty in the 36th minute after Calvin Bassey brought down Mason Mount in the box.

Unfortunately, Bruno Fernandes sent the resulting spot kick over the bar. The Red Devils, though, took the lead in the 58th minute when Leny Yoro's header was deflected in off Rodrigo Muniz. However, the Cottagers equalized through Emile Smith Rowe in the 72nd minute, and despite a late push from Amorim's side, the game ended 1-1.

Let's look at the Manchester United player ratings from the game.

Manchester United Player Ratings

1. Altay Bayindir - 5

The Turkish goalkeeper made a very good save early on to deny Joshua King, but looked vulnerable at set pieces once again. Could make way for Andre Onana in the next game against Grimsby Town.

15. Leny Yoro - 8

The French defender continues to impress, and was rock solid against Fulham. Made some crucial late tackles and interventions, and also played a part in the goal. Manchester United certainly have a gem on their hands.

4. Matthijs de Ligt - 6

The German defender has made the central center back position his own, and had a solid outing once again. However, he should have been more alert for the Emile Smith Rowe goal.

23. Luke Shaw - 6

The English defender started the second game in a row for the Red Devils and was tidy on the ball. However, Shaw is no longer the defender he once was and struggled to deal with Fulham's fluid attack. The 30-year-old was replaced by Ayden Heaven in the final quarter as Manchester United pushed for an equalizer.

16. Amad Diallo - 6

Amad was a livewire against Arsenal off the bench, and earned his place in the team ahead of Diogo Dalot against Fulham. However, the Ivorian wasn't in his element against the Cottagers, and there was a lack of chemistry with Bryan Mbeumo as well.

18. Casemiro - 5

Casemiro pleasantly surprised fans with his performance against Arsenal, but was largely ineffective against the Cottagers. The Brazilian was replaced minutes into the second half.

8. Bruno Fernandes - 3

The Portuguese maestro enjoyed a solid start to the game before missing a crucial penalty. Bruno Fernandes never recovered from that setback and was perhaps at fault for Smith Rowe's equalizer as well. As has been the norm, when the 30-year-old fails, Manchester United struggle.

13. Patrick Dorgu - 6

The Dane was always on the front foot, and also covered well at the back. However, Dorgu lost prominence as the game progressed and often looked out of ideas in the final third.

10. Matheus Cunha - 7

The Brazilian was lively once again, and even struck the upright in the opening minutes. Could have had a hattrick within the first 15 minutes, and showed his qualities in bits and parts. However, Cunha will have to ensure he maintains consistency throughout the game.

7. Mason Mount - 5

Mason Mount showed glimpses of a budding partnership with Cunha, but did little to justify his place in Manchester United's starting XI. It looks increasingly likely that the Englishman will be relegated to a bench role in the coming days.

19 Bryan Mbeumo - 6

The Cameroonian had an off day, and was largely an isolated figure on the pitch. Struggled to cope with Calvin Bassey's physicality and had minimal impact on the game. Ruben Amorim has to find ways to utilize Mbeumo better.

Substitutes:

Diogo Dalot - 5

Hardly improved the team after coming on for Amad.

Benjamin Sesko - 5

Still coming to terms with Premier League football, and evident that he isn't up to speed yet.

Manuel Ugarte - 5

Was brought in to provide more steel in the middle of the park, but failed to take control of the midfield.

Harry Maguire and Ayden Heaven - NA

Maguire almost scored the winner with a header, but both players had too little time to impact the game.
