Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim believes that his squad have improved since last season. The Portuguese manager took over as Erik ten Hag's replacement at Old Trafford in November last year.

Unfortunately, the Red Devils struggled for the rest of the campaign, ended up 15th in the Premier League, and lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur. Despite their poor form, Manchester United opted to keep faith in Amorim and also invested heavily in the squad this summer.

Speaking to the club's media, the Portuguese said that his players are now stronger and are reacting quicker on the pitch.

"Yeah, I think you can see that is a fact. Because you can see with the data. Then, with confidence sometimes you react a little bit sooner and you are near the ball. Again, against Arsenal we were sometimes building up but we had to kick the ball, and you could see the reaction of the players in the second balls — the duels — we are stronger, we are recovering our positions faster," said Amorim.

He continued:

"I remember at least two times in the corner, one time with [Martin] Odegaard running with the ball, and you could look at our players and we are sprinting full power. Even Casemiro, is in a different pace. So, all these things, I can watch the games since the start of the season and we are consistent in that, so that is important."

Manchester United lost their Premier League opener 1-0 to Arsenal last weekend. They next face Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, and you can read the Match Preview here.

Who have Manchester United signed this summer?

Manchester United have been quite busy in the transfer window this summer. Ruben Amorim was keen to improve his attack after a disappointing campaign in front of goal.

The Red Devils signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers this summer for a reported £62.5m fee. Bryan Mbeumo arrived from Brentford in a reported 71m deal, while the Premier League giants supposedly paid RB Leipzig £74m for Benjamin Sesko.

The trio are all set to forge a new look attack for Manchester United this season, and could start together for the first time against Fulham on Sunday. The Red Devils also signed Paraguayan left-back Diogo Leon from Cerro Porteno. The Premier League giants remain linked with a new midfielder and a goalkeeper as well at the moment.
