Manchester United could only manage a 1-1 draw against Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday, August 24, in the Premier League. The visitors went ahead through a Rodrigo Muniz own goal in the 58th minute, but Emile Smith Rowe secured a point for the Cottagers 15 minutes later.
Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad have set their sights on a key Red Devils midfielder. Elsewhere, the Premier League giants are close to securing the services of Senne Lammens.
On that note, let's look at the major Manchester United transfer stories from August 25, 2025.
Al-Ittihad eyeing Bruno Fernandes
Al-Ittihad have set their sights on Bruno Fernandes, according to The Sun. The Portuguese maestro has been linked with a move away from Manchester United all summer.
Al-Hilal were previously interested in his signature and reportedly offered a staggering £200m pay package. However, Bruno Fernandes turned it down after the Red Devils convinced him that he remains a part of their plans.
However, the Portuguese continues to generate attention from the Middle East, and Al-Ittihad have now entered the fray. Manchester United reportedly value the 30-year-old at £100m.
The Saudi club have already reached out to the player's entourage and initial conversations have been positive. Bruno Fernandes has reportedly asked for £33m per year, including bonuses, to make the move to the Middle East.
Despite a slow start to the season, Ruben Amorim values his countryman and considers him a key part of his tactics. As such, any departure this summer appears unlikely.
Manchester United close to securing Senne Lammens
Manchester United are close to completing a move for Senne Lammens this summer, according to The Guardian. The Red Devils are looking for a new goalkeeper amid concerns about Andre Onana's performances.
The Cameroonian custodian has failed to impress since arriving at Old Trafford from Inter Milan in 2023. His deputy, Altay Bayindir, hasn't fared too well either, prompting the Red Devils to consider reinforcements for the position.
Manchester United have been linked with Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez, and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) custodian Gianluigi Donnarumma over the summer. However, it now appears that the English giants have settled on Lammens.
The Belgian custodian has been quite impressive for Royal Antwerp in recent times, and is now close to a £17m move to Old Trafford. The 23-year-old missed the game against Mechelen in the Belgian Pro League as he prepared to join the Red Devils. Lammens is likely to earn around £80,000 per week at Old Trafford, and is expected to deputize for Onana.
Inter Milan want Andre Onana back
Inter Milan are offering Andre Onana an escape route from Old Trafford, according to Caught Offside. The 29-year-old reached great heights with the Nerazzurri, but his move to Manchester United hasn't panned out as expected.
Recent reports have suggested that Ruben Amorim is ready to let Onana leave this summer, and the Serie A side are eager to have him back. Inter Milan are planning to upgrade their goalkeeper position, and provide more competition for Yann Sommer. The Italian side believe that Onana can regain his mojo with a return to familiar surroundings, but the Red Devils' £30m asking price could be too steep for them.
